Kaarvi blooms once in 7-8 years. But when it does, entire mountainsides become a riot of colour. Sinhagad is our favourite haunt. So near, that we can go up there at a moments notice. The height of the fort gives it a special clarity of air, high above the city's pollution. We used to get excellent food on top. Pithla-bhakri, Dahi, Kanda Bhaji etc. and there used to be rustic spots to enjoy it. Recently all illegal stall were demolished and after some protests they were assigned a ground to setup shop. This has now become a dirty stinking mess. Alas. Early morning walks or Late afternoon rambles - Sinhagad will make you happy.
