The extent of the remoteness of the interiors of central India is to be only felt when we travel those vast lands. For us city dwellers, the wilderness is often intimidating. This is a photo from the for Chattisgadh side looking into Orissa and the Sunabeda Wildlife Sanctuary. We had to travel several hours on dirt roads and then trek for about an hour to reach this spot. On a work trip to Bhilai, my dear hosts decided to show me around. They planned a trip around the Gariyaband region. This area has only recently become safe for travellers.
